Beckett(3-2) pitched well for SSB in their victory. He went 8 and 2/3 innings surrendering 9 hits and no walks and gave up 3 homeruns. Dart threatened in the 9th but SSB was able to put down the rally. Beckett got help from Mariano Rivera who earned his 17th save. Kirk Rueter(5-10) absorbed the loss. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 12 hits and 4 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings. Phil Vantrepotte was asked about the performance of Beckett, 'He had his good stuff out there this afternoon. The fans really get into it when the strikeouts start mounting up - and that seems to give him even more adrenalin.'
